Thousands were drawn to downtown Columbus for the 10th annual Johnson-Witkemper Insurance Biggest Block Party Ever, which included live music, arts and crafts, food and more. The band The Johnson Way provided the music for the day.

Marie Webster Quilts, an exhibition of 20th century designs by the renowned Indiana quiltmaker, opened at the Indianapolis Museum of Art – Columbus Gallery.

1975

Nancy Morris, 12, was named the winner of the Columbus/Bartholomew County Bicentennial Commission Slogan Contest for her slogan “Look Back with Pride, Forward with Hope.” The slogan was used in advertising campaigns to publicize Bicentennial activities.
