Michael Blevins won the Columbus City Tennis Tournament with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Rahul Jha in Men’s Open Singles. Blevins was a teaching pro at Tipton Lakes Athletic Club.
2000
A Welcome Home Veterans Parade was held in downtown Columbus, where local veterans marched through the city streets as locals cheered. Several bands, including the 38th Infantry Division of the Indiana National Guard, also marched in the parade.
1975
Mrs. Paul Jones of Columbus was elected as national first vice president of the Phi Beta Psi sorority to serve as chairman of the next two national conventions. Jones was elected at the 1975 national convention at the Denver Hilton Hotel in Denver, Colo.
