Board considers bids for reconstruction work on County Road 225W

The Columbus Board of Works Tuesday took four bids under advisement for reconstruction of a portion of County Road 225W.

The reconstruction project involves adding a 2-foot shoulder on to each 10-foot lane of the road between County Road 300S and Deaver Road. The project will also include the construction of a new 10-foot shared use path and the alignment of County Road 225W with the entrance to the Toyota facility on Deaver Road.

The first bid from Dave O’Mara Contractors of North Vernon is for $1,090,140.12. A bid from Milestone Contractors of Columbus is for $1,116,153. A bid from King’s Trucking and Excavation of Seymour is for $1,232,760, and a bid from Morphey Construction of Indianapolis is for $1,370,000.

The construction project will be funded with community redevelopment dollars. The board is expected to award the contract during its next meeting.
