A Taste of Columbus, now hosted by the Love Chapel, will return Oct. 2 following a five-year hiatus.
Originally hosted by the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, A Taste of Columbus featured several local restaurants and caterers providing attendees with a chance to sample their food, desserts and drinks. All proceeds went towards supporting Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce programs.
A Taste of Columbus had been held for five years prior to going on hiatus, which Love Chapel Development Director Allison Kunkler said was due to the COVID-19 pandemic and high turnover in restaurants. She said Love Chapel later reached out to the chamber and asked if it was an event they were hoping to continue and if they were open in partnering with the food pantry to bring it back.
“… they were really welcome to the idea of Love Chapel taking it on. I think with being a food pantry and our focus is food and then taking over something that is a food-based event, it kind of just seemed like a really good idea for them,” Kunkler said. “So they were really willing to just let us take over, offer us any resources that they had available from when the event was successful previously and let us make it our own if we wanted to change anything. They were just incredibly kind.”
Vendors will have the opportunity to win various “Chef’s Kiss” awards in categories such as Best Sweet Item, Best Savory Item and Most Unique Item, and attendees can vote for which participant they think should win that category. All proceeds from this year’s A Taste of Columbus event will go towards Love Chapel.
A Taste of Columbus will be held at The Commons from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 2. To sign up for A Taste of Columbus, a vendor form is available at columbuslovechapel.com. They can also contact Kunkler at development@columbuslovechapel.com. Space is limited.
Tickets cost $35 and are on sale now at givebutter.com/tasteofcolumbus. A Taste of Columbus is a 21 and over event.
