Sandy Hook United Methodist Church will host its fourth annual Back to School Bash on Aug. 9. The free event will include free games and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Family discipleship director Melissa Hatton is anticipating more than 500 community members to attend. Kids may enjoy crafts, inflatables, temporary tattoos and games while parents can browse booths from community partners such as the United Way of Bartholomew County or the Foundation For Youth.
For the second year, the church will have a booth with donated school supplies for students in need. There is no registration to receive school supplies, but it’s based on the honor system of people only taking what they need, Hatton said.
“Our motto is to love everyone always,” she said. “It’s a great opportunity to show love to our community at a time when money is tight for people. We just want to create a good, safe space to relax and have fun with your family.”
