Two people were found dead in a Greenwood home following a welfare check Monday, police say.
Greenwood Police officers were called to a home on the 600 block of Greenway Street for a welfare check that turned into an investigation at 10:17 a.m. Monday. This is inside The Villages at Grassy Creek subdivision, east of U.S. 31 and between Stop 18 and Smith Valley roads.
When officers arrived, they found two dead people inside the home, said Matt Fillenwarth, assistant chief of police.
Officers and detectives are now waiting on search warrants to fully enter the home and investigate, Fillenwarth said. No other information was available as of 3 p.m., and more information would not be released until after officers had a chance to enter the home, he said.
The owner of the home is listed as a property rental company out of New York, property records show.
