Columbus’ Marlin Back won the Purple Prose Category of the 2015 Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest for terrible writing. The literary competition judged writers on their ability to compose the worst-ever opening sentence in a novel.

Contractors began work on the Shadow Creek Farms subdivision near Southside Elementary School, planned to include 939 homes. The neighborhood was approved for construction in 1999 by the Columbus/Bartholomew Planning Department.

Charles Hite of Columbus was elected as the state governor of the Indiana Kiwanis at its state conference in South Bend. Hite was the senior buyer in the Cummins Engine Co. purchasing department.
