A local man accused of 10 counts of possession of child pornograpy will have an itial hearing at 9 a.m. Aug. 22 in Bartholomew Circuit Court.
The bond for Brian Willment, 45, of 4713 Eastgate Drive, Columbus, was set at $100,000, according to court records.
Willment was arrested Aug. 5 by detectives with the Indiana State Police-Internet Crimes Against Children Section following a two-month investigation into the possession of child sex abuse material, according to court records.
Detective Robert Whyte began the investigation after receiving a tip that an individual in Columbus was possessing child pornography.
As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was served Aug. 5 at Willment’s residence. Additional evidence related to the possession of child sex abuse material was discovered during the search.
Willment was then arrested on 10 Level 5 felony charges of possession of child pornography. He was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail.
Indiana State Police Investigators with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) were assisted by the Columbus Police Department, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, and Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office.
The Indiana ICAC Task Force is a multiagency task force that investigates and prosecutes persons who use the internet to exploit or entice children sexually. The Indiana State Police oversees the task force.
The Indiana ICAC Task Force encourages Hoosiers to report online exploitation, solicitation, and enticement-type crimes against children to NCMEC. The NCMEC website can be accessed through the ICAC Task Force website.
