Mental Health First Aid for Adults is designed to teach employers, employees, police officers, hospital staff, first responders, health and human service workers, adult family members, neighbors, caregivers, and other caring citizens how to help another adult who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. The course teaches participants how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in other adults, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person toward appropriate care, if necessary. Topics covered include depression, anxiety, nonsuicidal self-injury, suicide, substance use, trauma-related disorders, disorders in which psychosis may occur, and eating disorders.
