Bartholomew County Extension Office secretary Jo Ann Schwartzkopf works in one of the new offices on the lower floor at the old State Street School on Aug. 21, 1975. The clutter of moving to new quarters remains, but the office was open for business.

Sue Lamborn was selected as the new executive director of Eastside Community Center. Lamborn previously served as the marketing director and director of independent living for Human Services, Inc.

Randy Ollis, meteorologist for WISH-TV Channel 8, spoke at the annual Rural Urban Dinner at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds Community Building. The dinner was sponsored by the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce and Farm Bureau.

B. Parker Newsom, Jr. of Columbus won first place in the Hog Calling Contest at the Indiana State Fair. Newsom raised champion hogs near Clifford with his father.
