COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team (JNET) investigation resulted in the arrest of a local man accused of dealing and possession of methamphetamine.
Joshua R. Nicholas, 35, of 312 N. Gladstone Ave., Columbus, was arrested on preliminary charges of manufacturing/dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana at 8:06 p.m. Thursday, by JNET. He is being held in lieu of $328,500 bond, according to jail officials.
Nicholas was taken into custody during a traffic stop during which there was a positive alert from a BCSO K9 on his vehicle, said Lt. Dane Duke, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office spokesman. The subsequent search of the vehicle due to the K9 alert resulted in locating approximately 2 ounces of methamphetamine, a digital scale and packaging material.
The Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team, a combined unit of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbus Police Department and the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office, is proactively targeting the manufacturing and abuse of dangerous drugs in Columbus and Bartholomew County.
