Multiple suspects arrested by North Vernon police after large-scale theft investigation

NORTH VERNON, Ind. — The North Vernon Police Department has concluded a large-scale theft investigation that began after a reported storage unit burglary on West Hayden Pike.
Through the course of the investigation, officers executed two separate search warrants at different locations. At each location, narcotics were discovered, leading to additional warrants being granted for drug-related offenses, police said.
During the execution of the first search warrant, Anthony Herr, 43, North Vernon, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine (Level 6 felony), theft (Level 6 felony), and possession of marijuana.
John Bates, 44, North Vernon, was located on the property. He was found to have an active in-county warrant and was additionally charged with possession of heroin.
During the execution of the second search warrant, Melissa Linscott, 56, North Vernon, was arrested and charged with theft, possession of methamphetamine, dealing methamphetamine, neglect of a dependent, possession of paraphernalia, and obstruction of justice.
Darrell Linscott, age and address unavailable, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.
The investigation was led by Task Force Commander Graham Heffelfinger.
“Theft and drug activity often go hand-in-hand. Our department will continue to aggressively investigate and pursue these cases to protect our community, hold offenders accountable, and ensure a safer North Vernon for everyone,” Heffelfinger said.
