I think it’s embarrassing that our president thinks he has some special relationship with Vladimir Putin.
I commend him wholeheartedly for trying to put an end to the war in Ukraine, but to think that Putin will turn back on his lifelong endeavor to expand Russia’s borders is delusional, in my opinion. If Putin had any intention of wanting to end the war, the first thing he would do is to stop killing innocent people, children and destroying their homes, businesses, and everything they hold dear.
I totally understand Trump’s refusal to believe that a leader would want to continually disregard his economy and his people for his selfish dream of recreating the old Soviet Union. Any sane leader would never want to do this, but unfortunately Putin doesn’t seem to be a sane person, and, it’s embarrassing that Donald Trump can’t realize this, especially when so many other world leaders do.
This was apparent when so many European heads of state accompanied Volodymyr Zelenskyy to his recent meeting at the White House in support of him in the war against Putin. They all know that this former KGB dictator and assassin can never be trusted, and history has proven this over and over again. But, Trump, as misguided and narcissistic as he is, thinks that he will change all of a sudden because of some “special” thing he’s got going with Putin! Again, it’s embarrassing.
The only thing that Putin understands is strength, and, the United States and the world should show it’s strength to stop him-and, if stronger sanctions don’t work (God forbid) — that means weapons, bombs, assassinations, and troops are needed!
My most fervent wish is that by the time this letter might be seen, that I am proven wrong, and that Putin actually respects and thinks so much of Donald Trump that he agrees to do the right thing, but, sadly at this moment that prospect is doubtful.
