State to hold ‘Election Study Public Meeting’ Wednesday in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — State election officials will hold public meeting for studying election changes Wednesday in Indianapolis.

Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales’ office announced an Election Study Public Meeting will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Indiana Government Center South, 302 W. Washington St., Indianapolis. The meeting will take inside Conference Room 17 in Harrison Hall.

As required by House Enrolled Act 1633, signed into law earlier this year, the Secretary of State’s Office is conducting a series of statewide studies on two important election issues: 1) the timing of municipal elections, including the consideration of moving them to presidential or midterm election years; and 2) the use of vote centers across Indiana.

The law also requires public meetings. Morales’ office says it wants to hear from Hoosiers in support or in opposition to these election issues.

Findings from meetings, along with election data collected from local election administrators and the Election Assistance Commission’s Election Administration and Voting Survey (EAVS), will be compiled into a report for the Indiana General Assembly’s Legislative Council, state officials said.
