FRANKLIN — The Columbus North girls captured the team title, and Joseph Day won the boys race to lead the Bull Dogs, who rested their top five runners, to a runner-up finish in Saturday’s cross-country Franklin Invitational.
The North girls scored 58 points to 107 for runner-up Center Grove. Emma Lowther finished seventh in 19 minutes, 21.3 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles), while Kodi Smith was ninth (19:35.9), Tristan Works 12th (19:44.3), Ainsley Sherlock 14th (19:45.9), Adira Sluder 16th (19:58.4), Rendy Zhong 20th (20:25.0) and Hazel Sasse 22nd (20:33.2).
Jennings County finished eighth with 221 points. Adistyn Long led the Panthers with an eighth-place finish in 19:23.4, while Shelby Allen was 39th (21:20.4), Brianna Phillips 61st (22:25.4), Addison Otte 72nd (23:01.9) and Macey Willhite 76th (23:10.5).
Brown County finished 14th with 304 points. Addie Adams took 52nd in 22:00.9, while Ela Robinette was 55th (22:13.0), Sadie Hiatt 82nd (23:23.1), Della Hitchcock 86th (23:29.9) and Izzy Miller 98th (24:05.3).
Center Grove edged the North boys 48-53. Day won the race in 15:34.9, while Logan Vanzant finished fourth (16:00.0), Rohan Norris seventh (16:06.2), Drew Hoeflinger 20th (16:37.1), Garrett Perfetto 21st (16:37.8), Zaid Warsi 28th (16:46.4) and Jackson Schneider 39th (16:58.9).
Jennings County (301) and Brown County (324) finished 12th and 13th. Max Rodriguez led the Panthers with a 29th-place finish in 16:47.3, while Cash Summers was 46th (17:11.9), Zach Walhman 82nd (17:50.5), Dawson Leak 101st (18:32.4) and Eli Lucas 136th (19:17.7).
Brown County’s Nathan Cumberledge took 63rd in 17:33.6. Eddie Webb was 69th (17:37.3), Aden Skaggs 79th (17:48.6), Jacob Webb 80th (17:49.0) and Robert Johnson 150th (19:41.2).
