Cummins Inc. will have its annual Community Wide Recycling Day on Oct. 2 at the Cummins Engine Plant entrance, 500 Central Ave., from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Materials that will be accepted for recycling include appliances and electric waste, aluminum cans and scrap metal, beverage containers of aluminum, glass, steel and plastics #1 and #2, cardboard, paper, gently-used shoes and clothing, fluorescent lights and 4’ bulbs, used batteries, household paints, stains and chemicals, mercury-containing devices, car and truck tires (no tractor tires) propane tanks, antifreeze, motor oil (five gallon container).
Also accepted will be televisions, IT equipment, computers, monitors and components, refrigerators, humidifiers and air conditioning units and electrons and accessories such as wires, phones, servers and radios.
Items that will NOT be accepted are styrofoam, plastic bags, plastics #3 through #7, bricks, pavers, concrete blocks, tractor tires, general trash and wood waste.
Most materials collected will be donated to local Cummins’ partners.
The event is open to households within the Columbus community.
