Columbus City Utilities has finished construction of a new water storage tank near the intersection of Deaver Road and County Road 175W.
The new tank, which started construction in 2023, holds 2 million gallons of water and helps meet growing water demands throughout the system. The tank is part of a larger group of water projects that includes four new drinking water wells, a new booster station, a new water main extension under I-65, and several water main replacements. The tank and additional water projects were financed through a $22.2 million loan from the Indiana State Revolving Fund Loan Program.
A ribbon cutting event will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17, starting at 9 a.m. The tank is located at 5595 S. County Road 175W, Columbus, just south of the Bartholomew County REMC building. The ribbon cutting is open to the public.
“Our new elevated water storage tank has made such a positive impact on our water operations in the few months that it has been online. Thanks to our operations and engineering staff, contractors, and engineers involved in the project for making this a successful project,” said Ashley Getz, Associate Director of Engineering.
