COLUMBUS
Lora L. Lucas, 64, of Columbus, passed from this life Friday, August 29, 2025, at her home. Born September 16, 1960, in Greensburg, Indiana, the daughter of Loren Edwin and Betty Jean Henderson Small. With a life defined by unwavering love and dedication to her family, Lora left a mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
On April 20, 1984, Lora married Thomas L. Lucas, and together they embarked on a marriage filled with compassion and mutual respect that lasted for 41 years. Other survivors include her children; Mitchell L. Lucas of Cromwell, Tonya L. Chandler, and Jennifer Kidd, both of Columbus. Her role as a grandmother brought her immense joy, and she adored her twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Jeanie (Everett) Herron and Lynda Hadley, both of Columbus; and a host of nieces and nephews who will forever remember her fondly as a nurturing and fun-loving aunt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Larry and Dan Small.
Lora dedicated her life to being a homemaker and she enjoyed painting, cruising in her car all hours of the day, genealogy, writing and spending time with her family.
Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but the love and life lessons she imparted will continue to guide and inspire her family for generations.
The funeral service will be held at 12pm Monday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.
Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 10am to time of service Monday at the funeral home.
She will be laid to rest at the Garland Brook Cemetery.
