Brock Kintner
Columbus North senior Brock Kintner has committed to continue his baseball career at Marian University.
Kintner led the Bull Dogs with a .366 batting average, five doubles, 14 stolen bases, 14 runs scored in the spring. He also went 2-1 with a 1.17 ERA on the mound.
North, East to host sectional basketball
Both the boys and girls basketball sectional tournaments involving the Columbus schools will be back in Columbus again this winter.
Columbus East will host the Class 4A girls basketball sectional, and Columbus North will host the 4A boys basketball sectional that also includes East Central, Franklin and Whiteland.
The defending Class A sectional and regional champion Hauser boys basketball team will make the trip to Milan for the second year in a row. The Hauser girls basketball team will play in a Class A sectional at Jac-Cen-Del.
North and East will compete in a girls swimming sectional at East Central and a boys swimming sectional at North. The Bull Dogs and Olympians will compete in a girls wrestling sectional at Indian Creek, and the boys wrestling sectional will remain at Jennings County.
More gymnasts can qualify for regional, state
The IHSAA has approved a new advancement policy for gymnastics.
The top three teams and top six individuals have traditionally moved on from sectional to regional and regional to state. This year, in addition, the next-best three individuals outside of the top six on non-advancing teams also will move from sectional to regional and regional to state.
Hall of Fame offering free field trips, admission
The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in New Castle now is offering free field trips and free museum admission through its extended partnership with Henry Community Health.
The Hall of Fame also is offering free field trips to any school group to visit its museum. The Hall is offering Reading, Writing and Social Studies curriculum that can be tailored for any age group.
