Columbus residents remember the victims of 9/11

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The city of Columbus commemorated the 24th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks this morning.

A remembrance ceremony was at 8:30 a.m. today on the Columbus City Hall Plaza, 123 Washington St.

The ceremony included a moment of silence, offering a time for reflection and honoring the memory of those who perished during the tragic events. Following this, a special dispatch broadcast paid tribute first responders and citizens who lost their lives at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and aboard United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Nearly 3,000 individuals lost their lives in the attacks.

The Columbus Police and Fire Color Guard participated in the ceremony.

A Fire Service bell ceremony was held, a time-honored tradition that honored the memory of those who have given their lives in the line of duty.
