EDINBURGH – Columbus North came away empty-handed at the girls golf Conference Indiana Tournament Monday at Timbergate Golf Course.
Even though they finished sixth and didn’t have a player on the All-Conference team, the Bull Dogs gained valuable experience of what a big tournament, including next week’s sectional, is going to be. They finished with a 470, 44 strokes behind fifth-place Terre Haute North.
Terre Haute South won the championship with a 342, four strokes better than runner-up Southport. Bloomington North was third with a 359, and Bloomington South was fourth with a 388.
The Braves’ Avery Cassell was the individual medalist with a 2-over-par 74.
“I think we’ve had a lot of improvement over the year,” Columbus North coach Alexandria Weisheit said. “Obviously, we’d like to be lower than 470, but we started the year off close to a 500. I’m so happy with Saturday’s success (at the Bloomington North Invitational), as well with that being our sectional course and shooting a 453. We were hoping we’d be closer to that today, but at the end of the day, we’re learning, and we’re starting to string more holes together under double-par.”
Caroline Crawford had the low round for the Bull Dogs with a 109. Pia Mantooth finished with a 115, Harper Andresen and Bryn Emmitt each shot 123 and Kori Vincent had a 124.
Monday’s tournament could be the last Conference Indiana girls golf tournament since Bloomington North will be moving to the Mid-State Conference and both Terre Haute North and Terre Haute South are moving to the Sagamore Conference at the beginning of the 2026-27 school year.
Columbus North will visit crosstown rival Columbus East at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at Otter Creek.
