CICC to host Hoosier Hills Choral Festival Oct. 25

The Columbus Indiana Children’s Choir, or CICC, will be hosting the Hoosier Hills Choral Festival on Saturday, Oct. 25 starting at 3:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Columbus. This annual festival celebrates the gathering of children’s choirs from Indiana to Ohio as children come together through music to present a free community concert, according to a press release.

The festival will feature the Columbus Indiana Children’s Choir, the Cincinnati Youth Chorus, the Evansville Children’s Choir, the Indianapolis Children’s Choir Lyric Choirs and the Shelbyville Middle School Choir. The performance will also feature Guest Conductor Ruth Dwyer, Director of Education Emertia of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir.

The Oct. 25 performance does not require tickets for entry, but donations will be accepted during the free will offering, according to the press release.

“This annual tradition is such a special one for our singers and for the community,” Director of CICC’s Concert Choir and festival organizer Melissa Garcia said in the release. “It truly brings out one of the best parts of music – coming together to work on a common, shared goal of making beautiful art.”

The Columbus Indiana Children’s Choir serves the children of Columbus through several choral programs, such as the auditioned choir groups Concert Choir and Descant Choir that are available for grades three to eight. A Preparatory Program for grades one to three is also available as well as an Early Childhood Program for ages four to five.
