Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. was recently recognized as one of Indiana’s Best-In-State Employers for 2025 by Forbes Magazine.
Forbes enlisted Statista Inc., a global data and business intelligence platform, to call over 160,000 employees nationwide to ask them about: how they would rank their employer on a scale of zero to 10, and to evaluate their workplace based upon factors like wage parity, work culture, paths to professional advancement and whether their employer takes action on serious issues like sexual harassment.
Out of that, two lists were produced for each state— one that ranks companies based in a given state, and another that combines all companies with a presence in a given state, whether based there or not.
Encompassed in the rankings are representatives from sectors including education, drugs and biotechnology, engineering, manufacturing and automotive, to name a few. To be considered, a given company has to have at least 500 employees.
There are 75 employers on the wider list, with BCSC coming in at 63. With regard to the list that ranks companies based in Indiana, BCSC ranks 25 out of 31.
The complete award list can be viewed on Forbes’ website.
“We are grateful for this recognition, which affirms the remarkable culture we have in this corporation,” said Erin Stalbaum, assistant superintendent for human resources. “We truly believe BCSC is the choice to learn, work, and play. This award reflects our commitment to fostering a workplace where every individual is respected, supported and empowered to positively impact student outcomes. We value strong community partnerships, which foster growth and success throughout Bartholomew County for staff and students. When our employees succeed, our entire community succeeds. This honor is proof of that belief.”
Just three other K-12 school districts made the cut, including Center Grove Community School Corp. at 11 (ranked fifth on other list) Vigo County School Corp. at 58 (ranked 24th on the other list), and Fort Wayne Community Schools at 75 (ranked 31st on the other list).
“The Columbus Educators Association is extremely proud to see BCSC named as one of Indiana’s Best-In-State Companies by Forbes Magazine,” the CEA said in a provided statement. “This honor reinforces that the support BCSC receives from the local community in ways such as supporting the referendum, community visibility at school events, and involvement of families at school functions is working.”
