Accident at Washington and North National Road snarls traffic

Columbus police have cleared the scene at Washington Street and North National Road and the intersection is open.

Police said a 2024 GMC Yukon driven by a 40-year-old female on Washington Street was attempting to turn left on to North National Road at about 8:04 a.m. when it collied with a 2012 Ford F150, driven by a 36-year-old male, attempting to cross National Road on Washington as the Yukon was turning left. The male had a complaint of pain but was not taken to the hospital.

The intersection was cleared at 8:39 a.m., police said.

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus police are working at the scene of a two-vehicle accident at Washington Street and North National Road which has caused some traffic disruption for about a half hour.

Police said the accident occurred at 8:04 a.m., and a wrecker is now on the scene removing one of the vehicles. The accident was reported as a personal injury accident as one individual was reporting pain.

Motorists should be advised that traffic backups in the area are continuing and to avoid the area if possible.
