Panthers slip past Olympians in HHC tourney

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County edged Columbus East 3-2 Wednesday in the consolation round of the boys tennis Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament.

Parker Bales beat Trevor Ernst 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles for the Panthers (7-10). Ty Zohrlaut and Luke Napier blanked Michael Reed and Micah Wettschurack 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, and Asher Morin and Luke Clapp defeated Carson Hartsook and Cooper Harry 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

The Olympians (4-18) picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Kai Bergman beat Colten Short 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, and Landon Redelman defeated Lucius Stidham 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Each team has one more HHC tourney match remaining. East will host Bedford North Lawrence Thursday, and Jennings will travel to BNL Friday.
