Camden Grimes // Hauser junior soccer player

Grimes had two assists and converted a penalty kick in the shootout of a 4-3 loss to Morristown and scored two goals in Thursday’s 4-0 win against Knightstown.

His performance last week: “I was very proud with how I played. With (leading scorer) Nick (Mann) going out, we needed more scoring, and I kind of stepped up and created opportunities.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I have problems with cramping, so I try to get electrolytes in my system. Stretching is so important, especially with my calves.”

Favorite drink: “Gatorlyte Strawberry Kiwi”

Favorite food: “Hamburger”

Favorite class: “Math or Algebra”

Favorite sports team: “Real Madrid”

Favorite athlete: “(Pro soccer player) Kevin DeBruyne”

Role model: “My dad (Hauser coach Barry Grimes). He’s a very hard worker, so I strive to be like him.”

Best advice: “You don’t have to do everything yourself. Let your teammates take some of the weight, too.’’

Athletics goal: “Break the all-time assist record at Hauser.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Belgium. I really love their food and their sports teams, soccer specifically, I really enjoy watching.”

Danika Hoehn // Columbus North junior soccer player

Danika Hoehn

Hoehn recorded back-to-back shutouts in goal with four saves in a 0-0 tie with Bloomington South and one save in Saturday’s 2-0 win against Terre Haute South.

Her performance last week: “I feel like I give effort on an off the field all year-round, but I can’t do it without my team. They really make a difference because we win as a team. It’s not always just one person.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I listen to music and stretch, mostly focusing on my mental state. Before games, I visualize plays.”

Favorite drink: “I like the Iced Chai from Starbucks.”

Favorite food: “I like chicken.”

Favorite class: “English”

Favorite sports team: “Pittsburgh Steelers”

Favorite athlete: “(Racing Louisville goalkeeper) Katie Lund”

Role model: “My goalkeeper coach for Columbus Express, Jose Acosta”

Best advice: “The Serenity prayer: ‘God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.’”

Athletics goal: “I want to go to a university in Florida to play soccer and study.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Greece, because Mama Mia was filmed there, and I would really like to go there sometime.”
