IUC runners take seventh; Dowty sets school record

TERRE HAUTE — The IU Columbus men and women both finished seventh in Friday’s Nike XC Town Twilight at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.

Phoebe Dowty set a women’s school record for 6K (3.7 miles) with a 13th-place finish in 24 minutes, 16 seconds. Erin Jones finished 37th in 26:22, while Tori Gauck was 60th (30:25), Grace Barkes 71st (37:01) and Alexandria Saavedra 72nd (37:26).

Luke Neibert finished 30th in 28:21 for 8K (5 miles) to lead the Crimson Pride men. Jackson Neibert took 36th in 28:37, while Emiliano Rosalez-Lopez was 66th (29:49), Bryaun Manuel 83rd (31:27), Chance Knapp 92nd (32:49) and Joey Martinez 104th (38:36).

IUC will host the Crimson Pride Open at noon Oct. 11 at Ceraland. The race is open for the public to participate.
