SHELBYVILLE — Class A No. 14 Southwestern (Shelby) handed Hauser a season-ending 5-0 boys soccer defeat Monday in the opening round of the Southwestern Sectional.
The Spartans and Jets had gone to overtime twice in the past two weeks, with Southwestern winning both of those regular-season meetings. But Hauser’s leading scorer, Nick Mann, tore his ACL in the first of those games.
The Spartans move on to face No. 17 Southwestern (Hanover), a 3-2 upset winner over No. 5 Shawe Memorial in Monday’s opener, in the semifinals.
The Jets finish the season 9-7-1.
