Scott Schumacher, principal of St. Peter’s Lutheran School, was recognized as the only 2015 National Distinguished Principal from a private Lutheran school. Schumacher was chosen as the best candidate out of 2,000 to represent the denomination’s educational practices.

Joey Kelly, a third generation circus clown from Peru, visited Rockcreek Elementary School and entertained students with his tricks. Kelly’s father and grandfather had both clowned for a traveling circus.

Local Junior Achievement company S.S. Bi-Centennial began selling license plates featuring the local bicentennial emblem and the national red, blue and gold bicentennial seal. The company was sponsored by Reliance Electric.
