Looking Back – Oct. 11

2015

The annual Ethnic Expo parade marched through downtown Columbus, led by host country Pakistan with natives in cultural dress. Other groups in the parade included the Chinese Language School and the Columbus East High School Olympian Spirit Band.

2000

Schmitt Elementary School kindergarteners visited Bush’s pumpkin patch to learn about the life cycle of the squash. At the end of the lesson, each class picked out a pumpkin to take back to their classrooms.

1975

Ethel Thurston won first place in the open pie category, Mrs. Carl Webb won first place in the crumb pie division and Mrs. R.B. McMillin won first place in the crust division of the Pie Baking Content at the annual Apple Festival. Each winner received a red glass apple.
