COLUMBUS, Ind. — An Indianapolis woman died after a single vehicle crash on I-65 in northern Bartholomew County at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday near the 76 mile marker.
Indiana State Police said Amanda Seguin, 35, Indianapolis, died after her vehicle left the roadway near the Taylorsville exit.
Troopers Payton Utterback and Noah Moore were sent to the scene and found a 2025 Nissan Rogue about 100 feet off the roadway, said Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, Indiana State Police spokesman.
Seguin was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office despite life-saving measures performed by first responders, Wheeles said.
The initial investigation showed Seguin was driving north on the interstate when, for an unknown reason, she lost control of the vehicle, Wheeles said. The vehicle left the right side of the roadway, striking a concrete barrier, and then continuing down an embankment where it overturned, ejecting the victim, Wheeles said.
State police do not believe Seguin was property restrained in the vehicle and the initial investigation indicates that alcohol or drugs may have been a contributing factor in the crash, Wheeles said.
An investigation into the accident is continuing.
