JD Rotert // Columbus East junior football player

Rotert carried 27 times for 167 yards and a touchdown in a 28-9 win at Jeffersonville.

His performance last week: “Obviously, I couldn’t have done it without the special players around me making plays.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Usually, I just listen to music on the way to the field or the opposing teams’ field and read The Bible a little bit.”

Favorite drink: “I always drink a Body Armor before the game.”

Favorite food: “I always have Airhead Extreme bites before the game.”

Favorite class: “My AP Psychology class with Mr. (Tyler) Davis”

Favorite sports team: “Indiana University and Chicago Cubs”

Favorite athlete: “(Cubs center fielder) Pete Crow-Armstrong”

Role model: “My mom (Brennan Eckelman)”

Best advice: “Keep your head down and just keep working, and the light will shine through.’’

Athletics goal: “To win sectional and play college baseball and go as far as I can with that.”

If you could travel anywhere: “France, because of all the history there.”

Evelin Lopez

Lopez recorded a goal and an assist in 2-1 sectional wins against both Greenwood and Whiteland.

Her performance last week: “I gave it my all, and I’m pretty proud of myself.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I train by myself, and then I usually have another coach come and help me.”

Favorite drink: “Water”

Favorite food: “Pasta”

Favorite sports team: “Club America or Real Madrid”

Favorite athlete: “Cristiano Ronaldo”

Role model: “My dad (Nahum Lopez)”

Best advice: “Give 100 percent for everything, and work and train hard for everything you want to accomplish.”

Athletics goal: “Hopefully next year, be able to win sectional and get far with my team.”
