
Julie McClure | The Republic Columbus police, firefighters and Duke Energy were called to a home in the 2900 block of McKinley Avenue after a car went through a utility pole and then into a home’s front porch.
McKinley Avenue near McClure Street was closed for a lengthy period Friday after a driver attempting to avoid a collision drove through a utility pole and into a house Friday morning.
Columbus police, firefighters and Duke Energy were called to the 2900 block of McKinley Avenue for the accident, which involved low-hanging utility lines caused by the pole being broken.
Witnesses said the accident occurred at 10:45 a.m. when a black Kia Sorrento driven by Daniel Lain-Sutherlin, 23, Columbus, was heading to Marr Road when he attempted to avoid a collision with a van near the McClure Street intersection, driving through the utility pole and into the porch.
According to Columbus police, he suffered minor injuries and was transported from the scene by CRH ambulance.
Police said McKinley Avenue from Brooks to Nolting streets was closed for some time as the pole was replaced by Duke Energy.
No other injuries were reported.
