Oakland City swept a River States Conference soccer doubleheader at IU Columbus Thursday, taking the women’s game 6-0 and the men’s contest 3-2.
Trent Schenk netted an unassisted goal, and Jonathan Lopez-Sanchez scored off an asisst from Anton Bezborodov for the Crimson Pride men (5-10,1, 2-6). Both teams finished with 13 shots, with Oakland having a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Jacob Kasarda recorded three saves.
In the women’s game, IUC (4-10-2, 2-7) trailed only 1-0 at halftime. Oakland City outshot the Crimson Pride 42-1, putting 26 shots on goal to one for IUC. Zoe Bippus posted 20 saves.
Both teams wrap up the regular season Saturday against Kentucky Christian at BCSC Soccer Complex. The women’s game starts at 2 p.m., with the men’s game to follow at 4:30 p.m.
