The Brown family of Columbus, owners of Home News Enterprises, reached an agreement to sell The Republic and its other newspapers, online and commercial printing properties to AIM Media Indiana LLC, an affiliate of AIM Media Texas LLC.

A total of $4,467.35 was raised for the Fireman’s Cheer Fund during Showplace 12’s sneak preview, where it offered $3 movie screenings a week before its grand opening. Donations were also collected along with the ticket sales.

Columbus Mayor Max Andress was reelected with more than 2,000 votes over Republican challenger Michael Gill. Andress received 5,389, or 62.4% of the 8,634 votes cast in the race.
