IU Columbus took River States Conference volleyball regular-season champion IU Kokomo the distance Saturday before falling 25-23, 25-17, 20-25, 26-28, 15-8 in the regular-season finale.
The Crimson Pride (20-8, 11-5), who had beaten second-place Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Friday night, had a chance to wrap up a first-round home game in the RSC Tournament, but now will have to travel to Rio Grande Tuesday. IU Kokomo, which finished 16-0 in the conference, will host the semifinals and finals next weekend.
Sadie Egan recorded 13 kills and one ace, Journee Brown tallied 12 kills and six blocks and Bailey Stevens had 28 assists and one ace to lead IUC. Alyvia Luce notched 18 digs, and Mikeala Salinas served one ace.
Also for the Crimson Pride, Cora Baker posted 12 kills and 11 digs, and Egan added 21 assists and four blocks. Luce recorded eight assists, Ruthie Bingham had one block and Stevens added 12 digs.
