Heather M. Mollo, magistrate in Bartholomew County Circuit Court, received the Hon. Viola J Taliaferro Award from the Indiana State Bar Association at its annual meeting in French Lick for her work on behalf of children.
2000
Hope American Legion Post 229 dedicated a memorial to veterans and their sacrifices at Hope Moravian Church, with about 200 area residents in attendance. The ceremony included the playing of the National Anthem by Hauser High School Band and a speech by The Republic Editor Harry McCawley.

Columbus East High School students performed the play “Carnival” in the school’s auditorium, which included musical numbers from puppets Carrot Top, Horrible Henry, Marquerite and Renardo.
