A SPARK Columbus business event was held at La Quinta Inn on Jonathan Moore Pike, where Columbus businessman Amit Patel spoke about his business successes and future plans. Patel spoke about how he achieved his success from building the La Quinta Inn where the event was held to opening up multiple franchises in Columbus and other parts of Indiana.

More than 80 gallons of chili, along with pizza and sub sandwiches were served during the Columbus Fire Department’s annual chili cookoff. By the end of the day, $1,370 was raised for the Fireman’s Cheer Fund.

Members of the Columbus North High School Speech Team competed in a meet at IUPUI in Indianapolis, sponsored by Ben Davis High School. Christine May won first place for impromptu in the novice division and Jean Jacobs won first place for dramatic interpretation in the variety division.
