Woman arrested for OWI causing serious bodily injury after Indianapolis Road accident

COLUMBUS, Ind. — A local woman was arrested following a serious crash and drunk driving investigation, Columbus police said.

At 7:19 p.m. Tuesday,local first responders were called to the area of Indianapolis Road and Kenholt Drive for a personal injury crash, said Lt. Skylar Berry, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

When they arrived, they found two heavily damaged vehicles and two people with blood on their arms and faces. Based on the initial investigation, Vanessa Seyfried, 23, of Columbus, was traveling southbound on Indianapolis Road in a Chevrolet Trax, when she attempted to pass a vehicle in front of her. As Seyfried was in the oncoming traffic lane, she collided with
a GMC Canyon driven by a 57-year-old Nineveh woman that was traveling northbound on Indianapolis Road, police said.

Neither driver reported being injured. However, Vanessa’s passenger had been injured during the crash, including breaking his arm. He was taken to the Columbus Regional Hospital.
While speaking to Seyfried, officers reportedly smelled alcohol and noticed signs that she was impaired. They then began an impaired driving investigation. Ultimately, Seyfried was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury, a Level 5 felony.
