Looking Back – Nov. 25

The first dollar contribution in the Bicentennial “Buy-A-Tree” campaign for the State Road 46 beautification and landscaping project was given by G.J. (Jerry) Marland on Nov. 25, 1975.

2015

The Columbus Symphony Orchestra began the second leg of its season, “The Journey Begins,” with its holiday-themed concert, “O’er the Fields We Go,” at The Commons. Music performed included “Sleigh Ride,” “Joy to the World” and “Deck the Halls.”

2000

Kathi Armstrong, wife of Columbus Mayor Fred Armstrong, lit the city’s Christmas tree at a ceremony in front of City Hall. Afterwards, the World of Pentecost Church choir performed three carols, including an audience sing-a-long of “Silent Night.”

1975

Kenny Glass and Habitat opened shops in the new Courthouse Lane at the Courthouse Center. Other shops already opened included Doede’s Christmas Shop, The Toy Chest, The Leather Shoppe and Village Toymaker.
