Santa and Mrs. Claus, along with some of Santa’s elves, checked in at The Inn at Irwin Gardens, which had been converted into a Christmas wonderland. The bed-and-breakfast would be open to the public for two days to allow children to visit.

2000

Former Columbus High School teacher Alta Redmond celebrated her 100th birthday with a party at Four Seasons Health Care Center. Redmond graduated from Franklin College and began teaching in 1922.

1975

Earl Knarr, a truck driver based at the Mid-American lines terminal in Columbus, was named the 1975 Indiana Truck Driver of the Year by the Indiana Motor Truck Association (IMTA).
