Gifts were distributed to area families in need by volunteers for the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund. Gifts included toys, bicycles, food baskets and even miniature basketball goals.

Bartholomew County’s Power Plant Information Committee was one of six groups in the state to receive the Citizens Action Coalition’s President’s Award in Indianapolis. The group was formed in 1999 to oppose construction of an 825-megawatt, natural gas-fired power plant in southern Columbus.

The 11th annual Madrigal Dinners were presented in the Holiday Inn’s banquet room, featuring 16 singers in medieval-style costumes. The event was presented by the Columbus Arts Guild.
