4 p.m. update
Ongoing snowfall and dropping temperatures have led to deteriorating road conditions and the decision to elevate the county’s travel status to a Watch Level (Orange). Please refrain from travel on the roadways unless essential. If you must travel, use caution and allow extra time and additional distance between you and other vehicles.
Watch
Means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. During a “watch” local travel advisory, only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended, and emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies and other organizations.
2:30 p.m. update
Bartholomew County’s travel status has been upgraded to an Advisory Level (Yellow). With the combination of snowfall and falling temperatures, roads are becoming snow covered and slick. Please use caution if you are out traveling. Allow extra space between you and other vehicles and additional time to stop.

The lowest level of local travel advisory, means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or avoid these areas.
11 A.M. UPDATE
- Bartholomew County is under a Winter Storm Warning from 11 a.m. to midnight tonight.
- Bartholomew County is under a Cold Weather Advisory from midnight tonight to 1 p.m. Sunday.
- 4 to 5 inches possible within the I-74 Corridor. 2 to 4 inches for the Bartholomew County area. Lesser totals expected across southern Indiana, from Sullivan to Bedford southward.
- Air temperatures drop to near or below zero tonight and Sunday night. Winds gusting up to 20 mph tonight into Sunday morning will produce sub zero wind chills as low as -19°F.

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Emergency Management says the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning until midnight tonight for heavy snow in central, east central and west central Indiana.
Total snow accumulations between 4 and 6 inches are forecast with isolated higher amounts possible with snow beginning at 11 a.m. today.
Slippery road conditions are possible.
