Severe thunderstorm warning issued, tornado watch extended for Bartholomew County until 10 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 8:30 p.m. for northwestern Bartholomew County.

* At 7:39 p.m. EST, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 9 miles northeast of Spencer to near Petersburg,
moving northeast at 65 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Bloomington, Bedford, Franklin, Martinsville, Washington,
Bloomfield, Spencer, Nashville, Shoals, Ellettsville, Whiteland,
Bargersville, Loogootee, Worthington, Odon, Princes Lakes, Oolitic,
Trafalgar, Morgantown, and Gosport.

This includes Interstate 65 between mile markers 85 and 94.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 10 p.m. for central, south
central, southwestern and west central Indiana.

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The National Weather Service has extended a tornado watch until 9 p.m. for the following areas, as a line of severe thunderstorms approach southeastern Indiana.

The watch includes the following counties: Bartholomew, Decatur, Hancock, Madison, Rush, Shelby, Delaware, Henry, Randolph, Jackson and Jennings.

This includes the cities of Columbus, Hope, Seymour, Shelbyville and North Vernon.
