The Columbus North High School girls basketball team beat Elkhart Central 71-33 in the opening game of the Subway/Columbus North Invitational. The Bull Dogs were set to play Jeffersonville in the semifinals.

Edinburgh’s Lydia Storie received a silver medal in McDonald’s first International Crew Olympics in Chicago. The competition tested participants from the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Japan in restaurant duties.
1975
A barn owl fell down the chimney of Melvin King’s Columbus home, who called the East Columbus Fire Department to report the confused bird. Conservation Officer Anthony Wilson captured the owl and released it unharmed.
