Olympian boys split double dual, girls fall to East Central, Trinity

The Columbus East boys swimmers split a double dual Tuesday, beating Trinity Lutheran 83-7 and falling to East Central 82-64.

The Olympian girls, with only two swimmers, fell to East Central 132-6 and Trinity 38-12.

Mason Bean won the 50-yard freestyle (24.86 seconds) and 100 freestyle (54.93), and Josh Pendleton took the 100 butterfly (56.46) and 500 freestyle (4:51.83) to lead the East boys. Alex Stilson captured the 100 backstroke (1:04.64) and Pendleton, Bean, Ryan Turner and Stilson won the 400 freestyle relay (3:38.27).

Second-place finishes for East included Alex Stilson in the 200 freestyle (2:03.13) and Micah Wettschurack in the 100 breaststroke (1:26.70).

For the girls, Trinity’s Liz Downey won the 50 freestyle (26.98) and placed second in the 100 freestyle (1:00.00). The Olympians’ Baylee Benefield finished fifth in the 100 freestyle (1:11.94) and 100 breaststroke (1:38.29), and Savannah Burton was fifth in the 50 freestyle (32.43).
