Sharon Kay Kelley, 79, of Columbus passed from this life Wednesday, January 7, 2026, surrounded by her family. Sharon was born to Herman and Betty Heck Wilson on April 14, 1946 in Columbus, Indiana.
For over 15 years, Sharon worked at the Cummins Childcare Center with unwavering dedication and affection for the many children she cared for. Her contribution to the lives of these young individuals was more than just a job; it was a calling she embraced wholeheartedly.
Sharon’s interests were as vibrant and varied as her character. An avid cook, her kitchen was the heart of her home, where mouthwatering aromas and the promise of a delicious meal welcomed family and friends. She cherished traveling, particularly to destinations that boasted a captivating casino, infusing her adventures with excitement and fun.
Being a member of the Fraternal Orders of Eagles No. 741 and the American Legion Post 24, Sharon enjoyed spending time with family and friends during the events held there.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 61 years, Larry D. Kelley; children, Jason (Lana) Kelley and April (Ron) Hooker; grandchildren, Dakota (Lindsay) Hooker, Courtney (Ian) Kahre, Seth Kelley and Nicholas Kelley; great-grandchildren, Carter, Cade and Kennedy Kahre; siblings, Carolyn Harden, Gary Wilson, Barbara Shouse and Connie Ballard.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her grandmother, Florence Heck; and her siblings, Gene Wilson, James Wilson and Brenda Walker.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 14 at 12:00 p.m. at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Daniel Reynolds officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday.
Sharon will be laid to rest at Garland Brook Cemetery.
