Columbus couple Dave and Jo McKinney received the Cornerstone Award from Turning Point Domestic Violence Shelter for their dedication and service to the shelter. The award was made of a wooden cornice piece that was removed from the Turning Point building during renovations.
2001
The steeple and cross were lifted and placed on the new St. Bartholomew Catholic Church by a crane, which was still under construction. The $7 million church was set to be completed in November.
1976
The Columbus East High School boys gymnastics team finished second in their meet against Southport, with Mark Chambers leading the Olympians. Chambers placed first in horizontal bars, parallel bars and still rings.
