Kentucky Christian sweeps IUC

GRAYSON, Ky. — Columbus Christian dropped a couple of competitive River States Conference basketball games Saturday at Kentucky Christian, falling 87-82 in the men’s contest and 95-83 in the women’s game.

The Crimson Pride women (4-14, 2-4) led 62-60 after three quarters. Columbus North graduate Hadassah Hurt scored 21 points; Amaya Collins had 20 points and five assists; Abby Fleetwood finished with 19 points, six rebounds and four steals and Morgan Montgomery added 15 points and six rebounds.

Damontae Thompson led the IUC men (2-16, 0-6) with 24 points, 11 assists and three steals. Trevin Lieck had 18 points and six rebounds, Jayden Broadnax and Columbus East graduate Jack Fischvogt each scored 11 points and Airrion Boyd added eight points.

The Crimson Pride women will host IU Southeast at 6 p.m. Tuesday, while the men will visit IU Southeast at the seam time. IUC will host Rio Grande in a women’s-men’s doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m. Jan. 24.
