Full Throttle competes at Park Ridge Open

Full Throttle Speed Skating team competed Jan. 17 in the Park Ridge Open, a regional ability meet featuring skaters from Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and Missouri.

Finn Phipps competed at 333m, 500m and 777m distances, finishing second for boys in his group.

Edward Meir competed at 333m, 500m and 777m distances, finishing fifth for boys in his group.

Quin Fortner competed at competed at 333m, 500m and 777m distances, finishing ninth for boys in his group.

Vivaan Gupta competed at 333m, 500m and 777m distances, finishing second for boys in his group.

Wyatt Kiefer competed at 333m, 500m and 777m distances, finishing 11th for boys in his group.

Full Throttle returns to the Chicago area for the Northburke Open in February. The team practices at the Hamilton Community Center and Ice Arena and is coached by Taylor and Mikey Burdekin of Columbus.

BROOMBALL

Monsters remain in first

Monsters of Rock kept its spot atop the Columbus Broomball League standings with a 6-1 win against Hansons.

Zach Henderson netted three goals, while Ben Eckhart, Kyle Roshak and Thomas Andre all added one goal for Monsters (6-1). Erik Spilling scored for Hansons (2-5).

Our Name Is Earl (3-3-1) edged CCA 2-1 behind goals from Ellie Lutz and Adam Maas. Scott Herron had the goal for CCA (4-2-1).

Rockpile topped Jennings County BC 6-1. Joe Hasse scored twice, and Josiah Havekost, Nathan Haase, Joseph Boehlke and Eric Nolan all added one goal for Rockpile (4-3). Darien Castetter scored for JCBC (1-6).

Sunday’s games have been canceled because of expected inclement weather.
